Spending the day with my children in lovely and gloomy Amsterdam made me think…
Raising emotionally healthy children is no easy task. You first have to be able to face/aknowledge and then resolve your past and present issues. You need to have found closure with your own traumatic childhood experiences otherwise you are running a major risk of passing all this emotional and psychological baggage on to your own children.
You have to reflect on the experiences you have had growing up in order to make conscious decisions about what practices you want to repeat or not with your own children.
Once all the above is clear parenting becomes a much different adventure in which the whole family can evolve and flourish!
