For those who haven’t been following worldwide events for the past 40 years or so, Super bowl is the championship game of the National Football League (NFL), the highest level of professional football in the United States. It was first played on January the 15th 1967 and annually since then. The Super bowl is a big deal in America and the day on which is played is ‘now considered by some an unofficial American national holiday, called “Super Bowl Sunday“. It is the second-largest day for U.S. food consumption, after Thanksgiving Day.’ (Wikipedia)

Super Bowl XLV, played in 2011, became the most-watched American television program in history with an average audience of 111 million viewers. As a result of that, many high-profile television commercials are broadcast during the game, often from major brands.

This year, the Patriots defeated the Seahawks 28–24 in the game on February 1, 2015 and as usual, the event comprised a half-time show, performed by Katy Perry, Lenny Kravitz and Missy Eliot and a row of ads enlisting celebrities galore  – including comedic ladies Mindy Kaling, Chelsea Handler and Aubrey Plaza, actors Liam Neeson and Jeff Bridges to name a few.

You would have thought that football was the main big event of the night but apparently the ads took a center stage. Get ready to laugh but to also think ‘huh’?, while watching the following.

Budweiser – “Lost Dog”

Awwww…. so much puppy drama and animal love …surely calls for a Bud, right?

Esurance – “Say My Name”

Coke – “Make It Happy”

I say we should all be nice to each other even without the Coke damaging our PC’s !

Loctite – “Positive Feelings”

Forget couple’s therapy – this glue could save your marriage.

Snickers – “Very Brady”

I am surely never me when I am hunrgy… and who needs an excuse for a Snickers?

Dove Men – “Real Strength”

I would like to see a similar Dove ad for women – I do all these without using Dove…hmmm

Clash of Clans – “Angry Neeson”

‘Don’t trust anyone’ Liam …

Nationwide – “Invisible”

Great commercial but we didn’t get to watch her kissing Matt Damon? That’s not fair.

Avocados From Mexico – “First Draft Ever”

Yeah.

T-Mobile – “One-Upped”

So, no trophies in the ‘trophy room’ and T-Mobile had no signal for me at the London Underground…really.

Wix.com – “It’s That Easy”

Kim Kardashian for T-Mobile

Apparently no amount of money is ever enough, but at least she has a sense of humour.

Nationwide – “Make Safe Happen”

A depressing ad  – surely one of the worst. Bad taste Nationwide.

Doritos – “Middle Seat”

The ‘babies on the plane’ subject is totally overestimated. You will never get it until you have children, even if that sounds like such a cliche. The sound of that Doritos bag would annoy me more, I think.

Nissan – “With Dad”

Cuddling your father in a Nissan makes everything so much better…not?

Bud Light – “Real-Life PacMan”

Up for anything while drinking Bud light? We don’t think so!

BMW – “Newfangled Idea”

Budweiser – “Brewed the Hard Way”

This ad can really work in the United States where they drink it the most. On the other side of the world, we prefer the real version.

Fiat – “Blue Pill”

Its true. Meditterean men are hot blooded at any age.

Squarespace / DreamingWithJeff.com – “Om”

Huh?

Always – “Like a Girl”

I do everything #LikeAGirl and am proud of it!

Microsoft – “Braylon”

Great stuff! What a cute little boy!

Dodge – “Wisdom”

Do you also go: awwww – when you see old people being loving? Great advice by the way. Don’t bitch.

Toyota – “My Bold Dad”

I feel kinda insulted. All car commercials involve dads. Moms do not drive, right? Too busy cooking?

McDonald’s – “Pay With Lovin'”

Ermm… did Mc Donalds have ‘love’ on their mind while using pink slime in their burgers? I wonder…

Doritos – “When Pigs Fly”

We hope that no animals, or actually that poor little pig, was harmed during this commercial. And after watching a second ad on Doritos, now I think I want some. Clever…

No More – “Listen” (Domestic Violence PSA)

This was a real phonecall made to 911 and this should have been the most important ad of the whole event. SPEAK UP ladies… let’s end domestic violence once and for all.

Jeep – “Beautiful Lands”

The world is, indeed, a gift.

Toyota – “How Great I Am”

Full respect for this lady… just not sure where Toyota fits in this whole thing. Her achievements totally overshadow this car.

Mophie – “All-Powerless”

Haha…

Microsoft – “Estella”

I thought that Microsoft just made Windows. Since when did they get involved in other projects? Cristian?

Skittles – “Settle It”

I would so have won that! But for Skittles as a prize? How about a glass (or five) or red wine?

Weight Watchers – “All You Can Eat”

Just skip this advert and read this article instead.

Victoria’s Secret – “Let the Real Games Begin”

There would be more magic, if they stopped contributing towards body-shaming and an ideal of female beauty so narrow as to be virtually unattainable!

Mercedes-Benz – “Fable”

The car doesn’t impress me but the animated animals are soooo cute.

Kia – “The Perfect Getaway”

Ah…. Pierce… just timeless. What was the advert about?

What were your favorite ads?
